SHIRAZ SHINES IN SHIRAZ CHALLENGE

Lyx Shiraz Shines in Wine Magazine Shiraz Challenge Once a year WINE Magazine runs the highly anticipated Shiraz Challenge, celebrating the finest of South African Shiraz. This year the Lynx Shiraz once again stood its ground and received an overall 4th placing amongst the 247 entries!

This follows last year’s performance in which Lynx was also in the TOP TEN, making it the only winery to feature in both line ups.

Over our relatively short history we have accumulated numerous accolades. Awards and good ratings are gratifying. More gratifying, though, are some of the quotes made by leading wine critics:

Sunday Times SA, Michael Fridjhon talks about “Lynx in Franschhoek, with its seamlessly structured SMV..”

Wine Enthusiast USA, Susan Kostrze giving the Lynx 2005 Shiraz a 90: “Lynx never seems to miss the mark, producing equisite wines with unique character. This Shiraz offers lovely soft fruit and spice on the nose, and on the palate, balance, classic black pepper, cinnamon, berry and a clean, minerally backbone. Restrained but flavourful, it’s an excellent food pairing choice.

Wine Advocate UK, Robert Joseph: “South Africa’s new wave of wine producers grows more and more impressive with every vintage. My latest discovery is a small winery called Lynx, just out side Franschhoek… my favourite, the Shiraz, which is rich, spicy, and surprisingly complex, with bramble and blueberry fruit and subtly handled oak.
